Fire Protection Engineer

Location and Work Arrangement

Location: Baltimore, Maryland. The role offers a hybrid work arrangement, with on-site presence at the Baltimore office. Opportunities exist within Jensen Hughes' Maryland and Virginia offices.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute a diverse range of engineering design and consulting projects related to fire protection.
• Meet client expectations by delivering tasks on schedule and within budget guidelines.
• Coordinate and perform building and fire code reviews and analyses, including plan reviews and on-site visits.
• Prepare and peer-review technical project reports.
• Develop fire protection strategies, performance-based design approaches, and alternative solutions to address client design issues.
• Communicate clearly with project team members, clients, and other stakeholders.
• Support business development activities.

Requirements

• Minimum of five years of experience in code consulting, fire suppression and alarm system design, and development of performance-based strategies within a project design environment.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering (preferably Fire Protection), Architecture, or a related field.
• Registered Professional Engineer or an equivalent professional designation is preferred; significant industry experience in fire protection and code consulting without an engineering track may be considered.
• Experience developing building code concepts and equivalents, conducting building plan reviews, and performing field reviews or inspections.
• Ability to articulate clear, technically sound fire protection engineering strategies.
• Proven ability to work independently and collaborate with other industry professionals, trades, and jurisdictional authorities.
• Knowledge or experience in fire alarm and fire sprinkler design is advantageous.
