Job Description

Geotechnical engineering role at AECOM Technical Services in Oakland, CA focusing on field investigations, analyses, deformation and liquefaction assessments for dam projects and related structures.

Responsibilities

Conduct geotechnical field inspections, geologic mapping, landslide mapping, and crack monitoring on dam abutments and around reservoir rims to assess subsurface conditions.
Perform stability analyses, including seepage assessments, materials characterization, and additional modeling for embankment dam designs across multiple projects.
Carry out deformation analyses on selected embankment designs and prepare data for numerical modeling.
Execute liquefaction triggering assessments for dam projects, and compute lateral earth pressures and bearing capacity for related structures.
Prepare ground motion response spectra for different earthquake models to support reporting.
Plan field investigations, coordinate and supervise activities, including drafting work plans and health and safety plans, and coordinating with subcontractors and client representatives.

Requirements

Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field, plus two years of experience as a geotechnical engineer or in a related occupation.
