Job Description
Public notice for anticipated General Engineer vacancies with the U.S. Naval Sea Systems Command, onsite in Schenectady, NY, offering a salary range of USD 63,678 to 143,062 per year.
Responsibilities
- Serve as principal contributors on team-based projects, provide technical oversight and leadership, and develop, present, and evaluate plans, designs, reports, and related correspondence.
- Define project scope, requirements, and deliverables; develop or adjust project plans and execute them to meet objectives.
- Review contractor management indicators and government project office metrics; maintain contract records, track funds, and manage reports, correspondence, and publications.
- Process invoices and deliverables, sign and verify invoices, file records, share documentation with Contracting, verify worked hours prior to payment, and receive contract deliverables.
- Research, analyze, interpret, evaluate, and execute project assignments; determine relevance and use of factual, economic and financial, engineering, architectural, and/or scientific information.
- Prepare and evaluate conventional plans, designs, specifications, and related documentation; perform calculations, analyses, and computations for engineering or scientific projects.
- Identify project parameters, develop design specifications, prepare preliminary designs, estimate costs, and conduct life-cycle analyses of existing structures.
- Recommend alternatives to maintain, rehabilitate, or replace equipment and structures.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Suitability for federal employment must be determined.

- BN-03 (GS-12/13 equivalent): demonstrates at least one year of specialized experience planning, analyzing, designing, and evaluating engineering projects; coordinating with stakeholders to ensure compliance with applicable standards.
- BN-02 (GS-09/11 equivalent): demonstrates at least one year of specialized experience assisting in planning, analyzing, designing, or evaluating engineering projects, supporting senior engineers, and ensuring compliance with established standards.

Education
