Performance Fire Systems, Inc. is hiring a Fire Sprinkler Engineer in Garden Grove, CA for hybrid work. This role focuses on designing and analyzing fire sprinkler systems for construction and manufacturing projects, with an emphasis on safety, plan accuracy, and compliance with applicable standards and local requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed fire sprinkler system designs using CAD tools, including AutoCAD, AutoSprink, and Building Information Modeling (BIM), ensuring alignment with building codes and safety standards.
- Plan system layouts and perform 3D modeling to support product design work while integrating mechanical engineering principles with fire protection requirements.
- Complete hydraulic calculations, perform flow analysis, and conduct root cause analysis to optimize performance and troubleshoot issues.
- Collaborate with civil, mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering teams to integrate fire protection systems into building designs.
- Coordinate with city officials and local fire departments to support timely plan approvals.
- Review schematics, technical drawings, as-built drawings, and construction documents to confirm accuracy and compliance with industry and governmental standards.
- Lead project scheduling, manage timelines, and oversee installation processes from initial concept through commissioning.
- Conduct site inspections, provide construction oversight, and complete quality assurance checks to verify installation matches design specifications.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelorβs degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field; advanced certifications in fire protection systems are a plus.
- Proven experience in an industrial or manufacturing engineering role with a focus on fire sprinkler or fire protection systems.
- Proficiency in CAD software including AutoCAD, AutoSprink, and CAD-based BIM tools; experience with 3D modeling for product design is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of building code analysis and compliance, including fire safety regulations across different jurisdictions.
- Familiarity with system design principles involving programmable logic controllers (PLCs), along with data analysis skills and scripting for automation purposes.
- Ability to perform engineering troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and data collection to support continuous system improvements.
- Excellent project management capabilities, including scheduling, cross-functional communication, team leadership, and documentation practices.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes tied to mechanical design and mechanical knowledge of fire suppression systems is beneficial.
- Experience with construction sites or laboratory environments involving research or testing of fire protection components is advantageous.
