Geotechnical Engineer 1

Join a collaborative engineering team in Chelmsford, MA, where you will work under direct supervision to develop geotechnical and geo-environmental designs and support field and study activities. This role offers a competitive annual salary range of USD 69,909 - 115,336 and the opportunity to contribute technical materials that may support firm knowledge and publications.

What you’ll do

• Create engineering designs for excavation, dewatering, shallow/deep foundations, and dams/reservoirs/levees, as well as geo-environmental projects, for client requirements of basic complexity.
• Review draft designs to help ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Ensure firm policies and practices are followed on all designs.
• Conduct site reviews and studies as needed to confirm designs align with location specifications, and update design requirements when necessary.
• Perform soil sampling analyses and modeling.
• Support firm knowledge by contributing to white papers and technical documentation for new or special-case designs and studies.
• Submit technical papers and designs for publishing in technical journals.
• May create or support creation of poster or conference presentation materials.
• Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical, Civil, Mining, or Geologic Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Equivalent directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required (about 50%).
• Basic knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices.
• Basic knowledge of engineering principles of design.
• Knowledge of Microsoft business software (Excel, Word, etc.).
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• An appropriate and valid driver’s license is required.
