Highway Engineer I

Join RS&H as a Highway Engineer supporting roadway and highway projects for DOT, county, and municipal clients. This Denver, CO hybrid role works across the project lifecycle, from concept development through construction, with the chance to deliver practical transportation solutions in a team-focused environment.

What you will do

• Lead roadway and highway design work, including engineering analysis and plan production for transportation projects
• Develop project specifications, reports, cost estimates, technical studies, and construction documents
• Analyze and interpret engineering data to create innovative, real-world design solutions
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to help deliver projects on schedule and within budget
• Complete quality control reviews and support field reviews and construction observations
• Support project delivery by monitoring schedules, budgets, and task progress
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff and engineering support team members
• Contribute to client development, proposal efforts, and other business development initiatives

What you bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Colorado preferred
• Minimum 5 years of roadway/highway engineering experience
• Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local transportation design standards, regulations, and codes
• Experience preparing construction documents and engineering plans
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop innovative and practical solutions
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with clients, contractors, stakeholders, and the project team

Additional preferred experience

• Experience with Bentley OpenRoads Designer (ORD) and/or Autodesk Civil 3D and Bluebeam Revu

Compensation: USD 98,500 - 127,000 per year.
