Role Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Transportation Engineer/Project Manager to lead WisDOT transportation projects across Wisconsin. Based in Madison, this role involves actively managing and designing WisDOT projects, mentoring junior engineers, supporting recruiting efforts, and assisting with business development with existing and potential clients.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage roadway and structural projects from initiation to completion
- Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets, and monitor progress to meet objectives
- Serve as the primary client contact, communicating project status and resolving issues promptly
- Collaborate with teams to coordinate project tasks and deliverables
- Ensure project compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards
- Identify project risks and challenges
- Prepare and present project reports and updates to clients
- Contribute to the design and engineering of roadway and structural projects
- Build client relations, prepare proposals, and pursue additional site design work
- Assist with recruitment and hiring of additional site design staff
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Experience designing and managing transportation projects for WisDOT or other municipal clients
- Strong work ethic, self-motivation, attention to detail, high organizational skills, and enthusiasm for transportation projects
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal abilities
- Customer service orientation with the ability to work effectively in a team and independently
- Flexibility to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing client expectations
- Problem-solving abilities, especially where documentation is limited or lacks standardization
- Proficiency in engineering software such as Civil 3D, AutoCAD, MicroStation, or other relevant tools
- Experience with Microsoft Office tools (SharePoint, OneDrive, Outlook, etc.) and Document Control Management Software
Education and Licenses
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
- Minimum of 4+ years of experience in transportation site design or similar projects
- Professional Engineer (PE) License in Wisconsin

Compensation and Benefits
Salary range: $90,000.00 to $140,000.00 per year
