HVAC Project Engineer
Job Description
Support HVAC, mechanical, and piping project execution by handling documentation, coordination, and technical administration for field and project teams.
Responsibilities
- Assist Project Managers with administration and day-to-day execution of mechanical construction projects.
- Prepare, track, and maintain project documentation including contracts, drawings, and specifications.
- Process and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and other project correspondence.
- Maintain organized project files and records across the full project lifecycle.
- Support project closeout efforts, including punch lists and turnover documentation.
- Help develop and maintain project schedules and look-ahead plans.
- Coordinate with field personnel, vendors, subcontractors, and clients to support on-time execution.
- Monitor project progress and provide updates to project teams.
- Participate in project meetings and capture meeting minutes and action items.
- Support procurement activities and material tracking to help protect the project schedule.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking for project financial performance.
- Review invoices, purchase orders, and subcontractor documentation for completeness.
- Track labor productivity and project expenditures.
- Assist with change order pricing and the associated documentation.
- Identify and communicate potential cost or schedule impacts.
- Review project drawings and specifications for accuracy and completeness.
- Assist with interpreting plans, specifications, and contract requirements.
- Coordinate with engineers, consultants, and field teams to help resolve technical issues.
- Support quality control efforts to help ensure work meets project requirements and industry standards.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
- Prior experience in mechanical construction, HVAC, or piping projects (preferred).
- Internship or entry-level construction experience (beneficial).
- Familiarity with construction documentation and project processes (preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with Procore or Bluebeam, or similar construction management software (preferred).
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to work collaboratively with project teams and clients.
