Senior Mechanical Engineer

Allegiance Group has an opening for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical and plumbing design for HVAC and related systems. Based in Allentown, PA, this is an onsite, client-facing role that connects field conditions and project goals to coordinated, code-compliant, construction-ready design documents.

The Allentown office serves as the group’s only design hub, supporting mechanical design for clients across the Lehigh Valley and assisting other offices across the Northeast when needed.

Role overview

You will drive engineering and design efforts from concept through construction documents, translating site observations and requirements into HVAC, plumbing, and sheet metal systems that are ready for build. This position includes engineer-of-record responsibilities once PE-licensed, along with mentoring and coordination across the design team.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering and design on mechanical and plumbing projects from concept through construction documents
• Ensure technical quality, support project execution, and coordinate day-to-day engineering activities for assigned work
• Convert field conditions and project objectives into coordinated, code-compliant, construction-ready designs
• Design HVAC, plumbing, and sheet metal systems, including load calculations and equipment sizing
• Serve as engineer of record on projects once PE-licensed
• Meet clients, perform site surveys, and present design solutions
• Mentor and develop junior designers toward engineering roles
• Support design needs for the group’s offices across the Northeast as required

Requirements

• 4+ years of mechanical design experience in the MEP sector
• Hands-on HVAC, plumbing, and sheet metal design experience
• Demonstrated experience performing load calculations
• Excellent communication skills and confidence working directly with clients
• Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle
• Professional Engineer (PE) license
• If not currently licensed, a clear commitment to obtaining the PE
• Experience mentoring or supervising junior designers

Pay and location

• Location: In person, Allentown, PA
• Salary: USD 120,000 - 150,000 per year
