Lead Specialist, Federal Data Engineer
Job Description
KPMG is seeking a Lead Specialist for its Federal Advisory practice in Washington, DC. The role focuses on designing, modernizing, and optimizing client data platforms using modern big data tools, while leading cross-functional teams in federal environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply modern big data tools and approaches to solve complex business objectives.
- Develop and update big data platform requirements to evaluate client data platforms, identify technology and process gaps, and deliver technical recommendations for platform modernization, cloud migration, and integration.
- Design tools and services for cloud DevOps environments, including performance monitoring, security monitoring, deployment and configuration, continuous integration and build servers, and cloud resource creation scripts.
- Lead multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams, including workshops and innovation sessions with clients, to identify business opportunities and optimization areas.
- Support the innovation pursuit process, contribute to target solutions, and help extendable data platform development; participate in developing and presenting thought leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of five years of technical data engineering experience; U.S. Federal government consulting experience is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Experience with Python and SQL is required; experience with Advana, Databricks, and Spark is preferred.
- Experience with development tools and methodologies, including Agile, GIT, test driven development, and CI/CD release management.
- Experience with data architecture and integration, including coding and testing patterns working with existing open-source software platforms.
- Experience leading project teams and engagements.
- Ability to travel as required to support firm engagements.
- Applicant must possess a U.S. Government Secret clearance.
