Job Description
In Brookfield, Wisconsin, Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation is seeking a hands-on Machine Learning Engineer I to help bring ML capabilities into our power tool products. This on-site role collaborates with cross-functional teams to deploy models, validate results, and shepherd concepts from development into production, serving as a technical expert on ML concepts. It requires strong problem-solving, clear technical communication, and a proactive ownership mindset aligned with broader company initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Deploy machine learning models in inventive ways while collaborating with highly cross-functional teams to create power tool solutions that impact users.
- Serve as the technical expert for turning ML concepts into tangible products, supporting implementation, validation, and transfer to production.
- Apply excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills to operate effectively in a dynamic, high-pressure environment.
- Leverage strong technical communication and fundamental project management abilities to ensure alignment and clarity across teams.
- Demonstrate a strong sense of ownership for projects and tasks, with awareness of how they connect to broader initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or another scientific or engineering discipline.
- Completed coursework or specialization in Machine Learning and/or Data Science.
- Demonstrated experience applying fundamental machine learning algorithms and techniques in practical settings (unsupervised or supervised learning, classification/regression, dimensionality reduction, model optimization).
- Demonstrated experience with machine learning and AI methods such as CNNS, transformers, or computer vision.
- Proficient developing and debugging code in Python.
- Proficiency in Python with extensive experience in common libraries (NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn, Matplotlib, etc.).
- Proficiency with at least one deep learning framework (e.g. PyTorch or Tensor Flow).
- Solid mathematical foundation in statistics, linear algebra, calculus and optimization.
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time (domestic and international).
