Machine Learning Engineer, NLP - E-commerce Knowledge Graph

TikTok is expanding its engineering capabilities to power its e-commerce platform with advanced NLP and ML systems that drive feed ranking, recommendations, and ads. The Machine Learning Engineer, NLP - E-commerce Knowledge Graph will design and apply algorithms to build large-scale knowledge graphs for products and buyers, working closely with product managers, data scientists, and strategy teams to define features and strategies.

Responsibilities

• Help develop extensive knowledge graphs of real-world products to support feed ranking, recommendations, and advertising.
• Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and the product strategy & operations team to shape product strategies and features.
• Engage in knowledge graph construction, including product/content/feedback understanding and the creation of category, brand, and SPU structures.
• Build knowledge graphs representing buyers and products.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
• At least 3 years of experience in machine learning, natural language processing, or computer vision
• Proficiency in at least one of C++, Python, Go, or Java for software development
• Strong teamwork and communication skills; practical experience in relevant business scenarios is preferred

Compensation and Benefits

The base salary range for this role is $148,200 to $300,960 annually. Compensation may vary based on qualifications, skills, and location. Base pay is part of the total package and may include discretionary bonuses, incentives, and restricted stock units. Benefits are available from day one and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) with company match, paid parental leave, disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing programs, and more. The benefits package includes 10 holidays, 10 sick days, and 17 days of Paid Personal Time, prorated at hire with tenure-based accruals. The company reserves the right to modify or change benefits programs at any time.
