Job Description

TikTok is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer focused on E-Commerce recommendations to join the San Jose onsite team. You will help build scalable optimization, models, and tooling for the TikTok Shop recommendation system. The role offers a competitive annual salary range of USD 150,000 to 316,800 and an onsite location in San Jose, CA, with opportunities to influence how millions of shoppers discover products.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement optimization strategies for a large-scale e-commerce recommendation pipeline covering tens of millions to hundreds of millions of products or creators’ content
  • Develop long and short term user interest models; analyze large, diverse data to extract signals and efficiently reveal latent user preferences
  • Design, develop, evaluate and iterate predictive models for candidate generation and ranking, including CTR and CR prediction; build real-time data pipelines, perform feature engineering, optimize models and drive innovation
  • Create and maintain supporting and debugging tools as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience with solid data structures and algorithm design; proficiency in Python, Java, C++, R, or similar
  • Familiarity with common machine learning, deep learning, causal inference, and operational optimization algorithms, including classification, regression, clustering, plus mathematical programming and heuristic methods
  • Experience with at least one framework such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or MXNet, including training and deployment aspects and acceleration methods like mixed precision and distributed training
  • Knowledge of big data frameworks; familiarity with MapReduce or Spark is preferred
