Machine Learning Engineer, Search Quality

Build and improve search and assistant intelligence for work using domain-adapted language models and robust evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Develop new signals that enhance personalization in the search engine
• Train models that represent interactions between signals in the ranking system
• Design improved approaches to domain-adapt language models for each customer’s corpus
• Explore ways to combine LLMs with search engines to answer complex questions
• Write production-quality code that is easy to read, maintain, and test
• Mentor junior engineers, or learn from more experienced team members

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience
• BA/BS in computer science, math, sciences, or a related degree
• Experience with search, recommendation, natural language processing, or other large machine learning systems
• Strong analytical skills and ability to work effectively with data
• Proven ability to design, build, and ship production-ready models
• Proficiency in your machine learning framework of choice
• Strong coding skills in Python, Go, Java, C++ (or equivalent)
• Comfort working in a customer-focused, tight-knit, cross-functional environment; a team player who prioritizes high-impact work
• Proactive and positive approach to leading, learning, troubleshooting, and taking ownership of both small tasks and large features

Compensation & Location

• San Francisco, CA (hybrid)
• Hybrid schedule: 4 days a week in the San Francisco office
• Salary: USD 140,000 - 265,000 per year
