Maintenance / Hotel Engineer
Job Description
Delamar Hotel is hiring a Maintenance / Hotel Engineer to support day-to-day upkeep across mechanical systems, guest rooms, and shared areas in Traverse City, Michigan. This onsite role blends technical maintenance with practical property care, from preventative work and repairs to outdoor and landscaping tasks that help keep the guest experience running smoothly.
In this position, you will collaborate with the Chief Engineer and the maintenance team to complete work requests, complete daily checklists, and maintain safe, compliant operations across the property, including pools and common spaces.
Role Overview
- Fix and maintain mechanical equipment
- Conduct preventative maintenance across guestrooms and public areas
- Handle repairs and upkeep for guest rooms, pools, and common spaces
- Perform plumbing work, painting, flooring repair and upkeep, and general maintenance
- Complete basic electrical and HVAC repairs as assigned
Additional Property Duties
- Perform outdoor and landscaping duties including mowing, weeding, trimming, watering, and garbage removal
- Clear/clean parking lot debris and maintain beach clean-up and event prep tasks
- Clear sidewalks and hotel entrances during inclement weather, including shoveling, snowplowing, and snow blowing as needed
- Move items between hotel locations and storage when required
- Patch or replace plaster, paint walls, ceilings, and trim, and repair masonry, woodwork, and furnishings
- Paint designated areas, including indoor common areas, guest rooms, and outside building areas
Work Standards and Team Collaboration
- Maintain friendly, cheerful, and courteous interactions with hotel guests while providing personalized service
- Practice safe work habits, wear protective safety equipment, and comply with OSHA standards
- Perform and maintain work according to local, state, and federal codes
- Follow company work policies and procedures
- Complete assigned work requests on all electrical and mechanical equipment
- Clean work areas after completion
- Report daily to the Chief Engineer regarding any issues
- Work as a shuttle driver if needed during staffing shortages or peak check-in/out periods
Requirements
- Strong skills in plumbing, carpentry, painting, and electrical
- HVAC skills are preferred but not required
- Ability to respond effectively during emergency procedures
- Ability to maintain logs and documentation
- Conversational English vocabulary
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Relevant technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and efficient, organized work habits
- Teamwork skills and the ability to work independently with little supervision
- Ability to pass a background check
- Valid driver’s license
Compensation and Schedule
- Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
- Job types: Full-time, Part-time
