Rebel Hotel Company is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to support the smooth, reliable operation of hotel equipment and facilities at our onsite location in La Jolla, CA. This role combines hands-on maintenance work with guest-facing responsiveness, preventative upkeep, and timely follow-through on alarms and service requests.
What you’ll be doing
The Maintenance Engineer assists with the operation, maintenance, service, and repair of assigned hotel equipment. The position also supports a preventative maintenance program and handles guest requests and other work orders as assigned, completing trade jobs safely and efficiently.
- Assist with the operation, maintenance, and repair of hotel equipment
- Change out light bulbs and perform preventative maintenance for guest rooms, including vinyl repair, touch-up paint, minor furniture repair, tub caulking, tile repairs, and related tasks
- Perform preventative maintenance for ice machines, refrigerators, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, HVAC, guestrooms, meeting rooms, the swimming pool, and the hot tub
- Complete plumbing repair and laundry equipment repair; perform preventative maintenance on exhaust fans and supply
- Monitor energy conservation and repair vacuum cleaners and other small equipment upon request
- Follow up immediately on alarms to determine the exact location and cause, assess emergency status, and report findings to the Front Desk
- Perform other tasks or jobs as assigned by the supervisor or manager
- Participate in the preventative maintenance program while handling guest requests and other work orders as assigned
Access, trust, and on-site responsibilities
This role includes access to back-of-house areas and sensitive information. You may interact with guests and/or colleagues, including occasional unsupervised contact. You will also have access and control to sensitive areas and items within the hotel premises, including the Hotel Safe, Master Keys and/or guestrooms, Storage/Liquor Room, and secured file cabinets.

Trade skills and safety
