Job Description

The Manufacturing Engineer (Facilities) role within the Operations team focuses on delivering safe, reliable, and scalable facility and equipment solutions. This position drives continuous improvement through investigations of manufacturing methods and equipment, capacity expansion, and capital equipment initiatives, supporting production and quality outcomes.

Location and Work Mode

  • Kane County, IL
  • Onsite (in person)

Compensation

  • Salary range: USD $85,000 - $95,000 per year

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop facility layouts to optimize workflow, material movement, safety, and space utilization
  • Coordinate facility modifications, expansions, and infrastructure improvements with Supply Chain
  • Oversee machine shop equipment performance
  • Lead equipment reliability efforts and resolve breakdowns
  • Identify manufacturing equipment needs based on production requirements
  • Research, evaluate, and select equipment suppliers and integrators
  • Implement and maintain a preventative maintenance program, including spare parts inventory
  • Support production with technical problem-solving and the introduction of new processes and equipment
  • Assist in reducing manufacturing errors
  • Partner with production teams to identify and implement best manufacturing practices
  • Research industry best practices and emerging technologies to improve manufacturing methods
  • Lead corrective and preventive action initiatives, including resolution of customer complaints
  • Implement error-proofing strategies to support product quality and accurate assembly
  • Support Supply Chain and Engineering by evaluating suppliers, components, and equipment from a manufacturability perspective

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related) or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with power or power conversion products across prototyping, commercialization, and production
  • Experience in engineer-to-order, configure-to-order, or custom manufacturing environments
  • Experience selecting, procuring, and installing capital equipment, including project management

Preferred and Role-Aligning Skills

  • Certification in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or similar methodologies (preferred)
  • Experience with ISO9001 and ISO14001 quality and environmental systems
  • Safety-first mindset, with collaboration as needed with Corporate Safety
  • Strong commitment to environmentally responsible manufacturing practices
  • Early risk identification and implementation of preventive measures
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
