- Create and maintain engineering documentation such as drawings, BOMs, assembly instructions, test procedures, and engineering reports.
- Review customer specifications and internal standards to establish requirements for design, manufacturing, inspection, and test.
- Perform and/or review stress analysis, FEA, weld geometry development, tolerance analysis, and mechanical interface design.
- Support manufacturing of stainless steel, Inconel, and other precision metal components, including machined and hermetic assemblies.
- Coordinate with Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Production to ensure designs become build-ready product configurations.
- Develop and execute qualification and test documentation covering environmental, vibration, shock, pressure, leak, and functional testing.
- Design and verify tooling, fixtures, test adapters, and production aids.
- Provide engineering dispositions for nonconforming parts and lead root cause investigations and corrective actions.
- Support new product introduction, production transfer, and configuration control.
- Produce clear technical communications and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop, qualify, and document welding procedures for SMAW, GTAW, FCAW, GMAW, and brazing processes.
- Analyze welds, inspect weld quality, and prepare weld repair dispositions.
- Apply welding metallurgy knowledge across carbon steels, low alloy steels, stainless steels, copper alloys, and nickel alloys.
- Support PWHT, weld qualification, and compliance with ASME IX and related standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
- 3+ years of mechanical engineering experience, ideally in manufacturing or precision metal fabrication.
- Hands-on experience with welding processes, weld qualification, and ASME IX requirements.
