What You’ll Do

In this Core Design Engineer role, you will improve the arrangement and performance of fuel assemblies within a nuclear reactor core. Your work supports safe operation, regulatory compliance, and power output goals by using complex core calculations and partnering with multiple engineering teams.

• Develop core physics models (lattice and nodal) for steady-state operation and transient evaluations.
• Perform core reload calculations and design fuel loading patterns for operational cycles.
• Support the preparation of licensing documents for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and conduct benchmarking against industry standards.
• Generate calculations to support startup of a new reactor cycle.
• Interface with thermal-hydraulics, fuel rod design, safety analysis, and licensing teams to meet operational goals.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering.
• 0+ years experience.
• Previous Westinghouse internship helpful.
