PCB Design Engineer
Job Description
Join a team supporting the layout, qualification, and reliability of high speed, high density multi-layer PCBs to MIL/IPC standards.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Electrical Engineering product design team with PCB layout for high speed/high density multi-layer boards to MIL/IPC standards using PCB design tools
- Use Siemens DX Designer and Xpedition Enterprise (preferred) to support design execution
- Support design work with PTC CREO and AutoCAD
- Perform and/or support thermal and mechanical analysis to verify reliability against operating requirements
- Build exposure to thermal-related issue diagnosis and assist with root-cause activities
- Support the Qualification process for in-house designed PCBs
- Support procurement and fabrication activities for PCBs
- Assist in troubleshooting fielded equipment failures traced to PCB issues
- Help develop CAD layout deliverables including:
- Symbol creation
- Library management (component footprints and schematic symbols)
- Component placement
- Growing experience with constraints management, topology, and signal/trace integrity
- Contribute to documentation and manufacturing/assembly drawings
- Collaborate with engineers across the organization to learn best practices, contribute to design discussions, and participate in design reviews
Requirements
- 2+ years of job-related experience OR a Master’s degree with 6 months of job-related experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Reliability, Electrical, Mechanical or Materials Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, Technology or Mathematics field
- Some knowledge of IPC specifications and standards relevant to PCB manufacturing, assembly, and testing, including examples such as:
- IPC-2221
- IPC-7711
- IPC-A-610
Preferred skills / experiences
- Basic knowledge of PCB materials and mechanical structure of vias and traces, including plating of circuits, manufacture of PWBs and PWAs, PCB shapes, and mounting
- Familiarity with PCB testing procedures, including functional testing, in-circuit testing (ICT), boundary scan testing, and automated optical inspection (AOI)
- Ability to assist with component-level troubleshooting, including identifying faulty components and connections
- Ability to read and interpret PCB schematics and layouts to support test plan development
- Experience with Siemens DX Designer and Xpedition Enterprise is preferred but not required

Clearance requirements
- Department of Defense Secret security clearance is obtainable within a reasonable amount of time after hire
- Selected applicants will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
- U.S. citizenship required due to the nature of work performed within company facilities

- Salary range: USD 100,219 - 111,180 per year
