Platform Engineer
Job Description
Systems Technology Forum (STF) is an established partner delivering management, engineering, information technology, and logistics services to the U.S. DoD and other federal agencies. We are seeking a Platform Engineer to join our Newport, Rhode Island onsite team to support the review, interpretation, and execution of submarine alteration documentation and engineering change packages, applying expertise in fiber optic infrastructure and platform integration standards for shipboard networks.
Responsibilities
- Examines submarine alteration documentation and technical directives to interpret requirements.
- Assists with engineering assessments of shipboard networks and fiber optic systems.
- Contributes technical input to the planning and execution of platform modifications.
- Keeps current with platform GFI management plans and installation requirements.
Requirements
- At least five years of experience reviewing and interpreting submarine alteration documentation.
- 7 to 10 years of experience with shipboard fiber cable plants, including conventional and blown optic systems, is preferred.
- Familiarity with commercial and MIL-style fiber components is preferred.
- Familiarity with submarine platform GFI management plans is preferred.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in any engineering discipline
