Principal / Sr. Principal Electronics Communication Engineer

Northrop Grumman is hiring a BLOS Electronics Communication Systems Engineering Principal/Sr. Principal to lead specification development, integration, and test strategies for next generation Military Satellite Communications (SATCOM) platforms in Melbourne, FL.

Responsibilities

• Perform systems engineering analyses for requirement trades, design/integration trades, and end-to-end performance
• Identify, quantify, and communicate uncertainties, risks, and opportunities in system architectures
• Deliver program uncertainty briefings with mitigation approaches and recommendations to department leadership and government sponsors
• Lead creation, decomposition, and peer review of system requirements
• Manage requirements, interface, and architecture change processes across the product lifecycle
• Convert analysis results into actionable guidance for U.S. Government agencies
• Chair multi-disciplinary working groups or studies to coordinate across engineering domains and external stakeholders for timely recommendations
• Support planning, execution, and reporting for complex trade studies and capability trade analyses

Requirements

• Work across software, hardware, mechanical, and reliability teams while balancing cost and schedule
• Trade studies experience planning, executing, and presenting complex trade studies
• Systems engineering full life cycle experience: concept, requirements, development, integration, verification
• Active US Government Secret Clearance (background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation)
• Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable amount of time based on business needs
• Principal eligibility
  • Bachelor’s in a STEM discipline from an accredited university AND 5 years related professional/military engineering experience
  • OR Master’s in a STEM discipline from an accredited university AND 3 years related professional/military engineering experience
  • OR Ph.D. AND 1 year related professional/military engineering experience
• Sr. Principal eligibility
  • Bachelor’s in a STEM discipline from an accredited university AND 8 years related professional/military engineering experience
  • OR Master’s in a STEM discipline from an accredited university AND 6 years related professional/military engineering experience
  • OR Ph.D. AND 4 years related professional/military engineering experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Leadership in evaluation and testing of complex satellite communication systems
• Expertise in capabilities trade analysis, mission analysis, information assurance, and systems integration
• Direct experience with Military and/or Commercial SATCOM, specifically AEHF terminals
• Experience working with NSA Certifications and processes
• Experience with MIL-STD-810 and/or DO-160
• Customer focus and collaboration skills
• Demonstrated team leadership experience

Travel / Work Location

• Travel: 10% of the time
• Location: Melbourne, FL (onsite)
• Work model: No hybrid or remote work available; based within office spaces to support program and business needs

Compensation

• Primary level salary range: $98,400 - $147,600 USD/year
• Secondary level salary range: $122,800 - $184,200 USD/year
