About the team

The Recommendation algorithm group sits at the heart of TikTok, guiding major product decisions and driving platform growth. You will join a diverse, world-class team of researchers and engineers who design, build, and operate production-grade recommendation systems that shape user experience. The environment is fast-paced, collaborative, and focused on meaningful impact.

Responsibilities

• Develop recommendation systems that enhance user experience and strengthen the platform's content ecosystem.
• Construct ML systems and pipelines to address critical product challenges.
• Own full stack ML systems, lead their development, maintenance, and ongoing improvements.
• Collaborate with cross functional teams to shape product strategy and implement solutions to grow TikTok in the US market.

Requirements

• Bachelor degree or higher in computer science or a related field, with at least 4 years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and Python, with strong data structures and algorithm design knowledge and practical experience building large-scale production systems in these languages.
• Solid experience developing ML systems using at least one popular deep learning framework (PyTorch or TensorFlow).
• Experience in one or more areas: applied machine learning, ML infrastructure, large-scale recommendation systems, or market-facing ML products.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Location and compensation

Location: San Jose, CA, onsite. Salary: USD 156,000 to 387,600 per year. Compensation may vary based on qualifications, skills, experience, and location. Base pay is one component of the total package and may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses, incentives, and restricted stock units.
