Senior Machine Learning Engineer

OneStudyTeam is building AI products designed to accelerate clinical trials and support better patient outcomes. This remote role focuses on engineering machine learning and LLM-powered capabilities that integrate with the company’s platform, including Care Access products, while standing up reliable production pipelines and deployments.

As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer, you will develop end-to-end ML/LLM solutions, expand the underlying AI knowledge base architecture, and partner with cross-functional teams to ensure these systems enhance clinical research workflows for end-users.

Responsibilities

• Build and deploy AI-driven products that accelerate clinical trials and improve patient outcomes.
• Develop advanced ML models and LLM-powered agents for use cases including patient recruitment, enrollment forecasting, and study feasibility.
• Help expand the AI knowledge base architecture to support innovative AI solutions.
• Use modern cloud tools and MLOps best practices to build robust data pipelines and deploy models at scale.
• Implement solutions using technologies including Python (and Clojure), AWS services (Athena, Bedrock, SageMaker, etc.), dbt, Prefect, and CI/CD automation with monitoring to keep models reliable and up-to-date.
• Collaborate with data scientists, product managers, designers, engineers, and domain experts to integrate AI capabilities into the platform (including Care Access products).
• Ensure AI solutions seamlessly support and enhance clinical research workflows for end-users.
• Stay current with ML/AI developments (LLMs, NLP, probabilistic modeling) and proactively bring new ideas to the team.
• Experiment with cutting-edge techniques and turn promising prototypes into production features.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience building and deploying machine learning solutions in production at scale.
• Proven ability to implement end-to-end ML pipelines, from data ingestion to model serving, for real-world applications used by real people.
• Strong proficiency in Python and the ML ecosystem, including pandas, scikit-learn, and TensorFlow/PyTorch, with clean and efficient coding practices.
• Comfort with large datasets, writing complex SQL queries, and leveraging modern data processing frameworks.
• Experience with functional programming such as Clojure is a plus but not required.
• Experience with modern cloud infrastructure (AWS or similar) and containerization tools such as Docker.
• Familiarity with MLOps best practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and monitoring for model performance and data drift.
• Strong understanding of machine learning fundamentals (model selection, training, evaluation, feature engineering) and statistical modeling.
• Familiarity with NLP and large language models is important.
• Ability to break down complex problems and devise effective and efficient ML solutions.
• Pragmatic engineering paired with scientific rigor to deliver models that are accurate, performant, and maintainable in production.

Location and Salary

• Location: Remote
• Compensation: USD 140,000 - 190,000 per year
