Senior Staff Software Engineer, Agentic AI Harness & Quality

ServiceNow is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to join the Agentic AI Harness & Quality team. This role focuses on advancing AI agent capabilities that operate reliably at scale and supporting the evolution of the Moveworks AI Assistant platform across multiple technical domains.

Role Overview

As a Senior Staff Software Engineer, you will help build and evolve production systems for agentic AI. Your work will cover orchestration, execution, optimization, memory, self-reflection, simulation, knowledge graphs, and multimodal input/output, along with implementing frontier AI algorithms and architectures. You will also contribute to roadmap planning and mentor other engineers in building maintainable, high-performing software.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex engineering efforts to build and evolve capable AI agent systems with reliability across the full delivery lifecycle, covering areas including orchestration, execution, optimization, memory, self-reflection, simulation, knowledge graphs, and multimodal I/O
• Implement frontier AI algorithms and architectures and support their productionization at scale
• Apply recent advances in machine learning, LLMs, and AI agents to improve products and create user experiences
• Contribute to the engineering roadmap and help drive the evolution of technical areas with increasing scope and customer impact
• Write robust, extensible, readable, and performant code
• Partner with subject matter experts across machine learning, security, product, user experience, and customer success to collaborate on enterprise AI outcomes
• Mentor engineers on building, maintaining, and evolving software
• Collaborate with machine learning engineers to build high-quality AI systems

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience designing, building, and improving production systems, ideally at scale
• Ability to think and communicate clearly about complex engineering problems and systems
• Comfort providing and receiving feedback, and a commitment to high standards of operational excellence
• Readiness to work in a Mac development environment and program in Python, Golang, and/or Java
• Desire to move at startup pace with strong ownership
• Attention to detail
• Drive to deliver production-grade code for product improvements
• Strong motivation for continuous incremental wins and fast completion of challenging projects
• High curiosity about engineering beyond immediate discipline and an ongoing desire to learn and remain current in applied AI

Location and Work Persona

This position is based in Mountain View, CA (onsite). ServiceNow uses work personas that can be flexible, remote, or required in office depending on role and assigned work location.
