Sr. Data Engineer, iCloud Insights Engineering
Job Description
Build and scale data infrastructure for iCloud Insights while supporting reliable, high-quality reporting used for business decisions.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to and maintain the data infrastructure behind iCloud insights, including building and optimizing pipelines, designing data models, and ensuring dependable high-quality data for DS&A and stakeholder teams.
- Collaborate across teams with an agile approach to resolve complex problems quickly and with attention to detail.
- Partner with insights engineering and data science peers to understand requirements and translate them into scalable data solutions.
- Improve automation and reliability of core iCloud data workflows through better pipelines and supporting systems.
- Develop systems that surface patterns across iCloud storage, subscription, engagement, and commerce data to support consistent reporting across the organization.
- Over time, help evolve how iCloud data is structured, governed, and delivered to improve analytical data ecosystem quality, coverage, and efficiency.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering or business intelligence, including building and maintaining complex data pipelines and data models at scale.
- Strong SQL skills with demonstrated ability to query, manipulate, and analyze internet-scale data structures and very large datasets.
- Advanced proficiency in Python (or similar) and experience with distributed computing frameworks such as Spark for complex data manipulation and analytics.
- Demonstrated experience with data engineering tools and concepts: pipeline development, data model design, and aggregation strategies for analytics and reporting.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including translating complex data concepts for product, business, and engineering stakeholders.
- Strong time management to balance multiple projects and competing priorities.
- BS in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Information Systems, Engineering, Economics, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a fast-paced technology company, digital subscription business, or e-commerce platform handling complex data ecosystems
- Familiarity with data governance, data quality frameworks, or metadata management concepts
- MS in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Information Systems, Engineering, Economics, or a related field
Location & Pay
- Location: Austin, TX (onsite)
- Base pay range: $184,700 - $324,800 per year
- Note: Apple benefit, compensation, and employee stock programs are subject to eligibility requirements and other terms of the applicable plan or program.
