Staff Machine Learning Engineer, Agentic App Platform
Job Description
Responsibilities
- Build a broad product infrastructure with intuitive interfaces that let engineers and configurators customize and optimize generative AI models. This includes collecting data and feedback, adapting to diverse enterprise use cases, and delivering domain-specific conversational experiences.
- Design scalable API abstractions for the conversation platform that work with MSTeams, Slack, and Web clients, while exposing a neutral API for other parts of the engineering system.
- Optimize the dialog engine to support a wide range of features, leveraging private enterprise domain knowledge in the cloud and enabling real-time multilingual translation, all with a minimal memory footprint and low latency to streamline development for application engineers.
- Champion best practices in coding patterns, API design, scalability, robustness, and optimization, fostering a culture of excellence and continual improvement among engineers.
- Provide thorough visibility into performance through a robust logging and tracing framework, user-friendly debugging and triage tools, and automated metrics for effective monitoring and analysis.
- Collaborate closely with ML engineers, application engineers, product teams, and customer support to drive feature development and scalability initiatives.
Requirements
- A strong foundation in computer science and software engineering with expertise in building scalable systems.
- A deep understanding of clean, modular, and scalable API design, with the ability to champion high-quality coding practices and influence peers.
- A passion for optimizing systems, proficient in tracing, logging, and metrics frameworks, and a systematic approach to identifying latency bottlenecks, race conditions, and throughput limitations.
- Capacity to independently research new requirements and develop innovative solutions, thriving in fast-paced coding and rapid iteration environments.
- Strong communication skills and cross-functional awareness enabling effective collaboration across teams.
- A bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or a related field.
- 7+ years of professional development experience building systems at scale.
