Strategic Artificial Intelligence (AI) Engineer

This role offers a competitive annual salary of USD 130,000 to 150,000 and a hybrid work arrangement in Fort Meade, MD. You will join a mission-driven environment supporting DISA under the EIIC, applying AI technologies to programs to help deliver successful outcomes and support the warfighter.

As a Strategic AI Engineer, you will analyze and apply AI techniques across programs, focusing on machine learning, natural language processing, and computer vision to inform decisions and drive impactful results.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with DISA and industry partners to build a solid understanding of AI technologies and their practical uses.
• Keep current with the latest AI research and advancements to inform program decisions.
• Design and implement AI models for a range of applications, including machine learning, NLP, and computer vision.
• Evaluate model performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Initiate, coordinate, and monitor technical and functional activities such as strategic planning, program analysis, quality assurance, configuration management, workflow oversight, and productivity measurement.
• Participate in program reviews, integrated process teams, and outreach activities to promote DISA initiatives and secure Combatant Command or partner participation.
• Provide technical support for pathfinders, proofs-of-concept, and prototypes across various domains.
• Develop program-level and project-level management artifacts, process improvement recommendations, technology evaluation plans, procedures, metrics, and related documentation.
• Generate reports, draft memos, capture meeting notes, research topics, and prepare presentations.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of emerging cybersecurity technologies and their practical applications.
• Proven ability to analyze technology, produce reports, and deliver briefings.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with comfort delivering to diverse audiences.
• Self-motivated and collaborative, with a track record of delivering results on schedule.
• DoD 8140 and industry certifications may be required at start, for example CEH or Sec+.
• Due to U.S. Government security clearance requirements, applicants must be U.S. citizens and eligible to obtain an interim Secret clearance prior to the start date by successfully completing the required background investigation. Top Secret or SCI clearance may be required.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is desired.

Location and security eligibility

• Must be within commuting distance of Fort Meade and able to work on-site on a hybrid schedule. Applicants outside commuting distance will not be considered.
