Job Description

NextGen Armor offers a collaborative, growth‑focused environment in Butler, PA. This onsite Mechanical Engineer role supports the development of advanced vehicle systems, with a focus on planning, conceptualizing, designing, and troubleshooting. You will work with cross‑functional teams to meet quality and schedule targets while helping drive automotive technology forward. The position carries a salary of USD 70,000 to 90,000 per year and a comprehensive benefits package designed to support you and your family.

Responsibilities

Develop testing processes and perform testing and validation of new designs where applicable.
Perform engineering calculations to support design work where applicable.
Create and review technical drawings and assemblies in CAD, with SolidWorks experience preferred.
Create and maintain Bills of Materials for new and existing products.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, and work with vendors and contractors.
Prepare detailed documentation to track project development and the design process.
Ensure project timelines are met and projects stay within budget.
Work with manufacturing personnel to troubleshoot and improve designs.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology or in the automotive field
2–5 years of engineering experience
Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and written instructions
Strong understanding of engineering concepts and experience designing mechanical systems and products
Experience with sheet metal part fabrication and weld terminology
Experience using 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, CREO, Inventor, or similar, with SolidWorks preferred
Excellent technical and problem‑solving skills and reasoning ability
Clear and effective communication abilities
Self‑motivated and capable of working independently
Teamwork: demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, solve complex problems, and communicate clearly
Physical requirement: ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work comfortably in confined spaces around vehicles
