Mechanical Engineer
Job Description
NextGen Armor offers a collaborative, growth‑focused environment in Butler, PA. This onsite Mechanical Engineer role supports the development of advanced vehicle systems, with a focus on planning, conceptualizing, designing, and troubleshooting. You will work with cross‑functional teams to meet quality and schedule targets while helping drive automotive technology forward. The position carries a salary of USD 70,000 to 90,000 per year and a comprehensive benefits package designed to support you and your family.
Responsibilities
- Develop testing processes and perform testing and validation of new designs where applicable.
- Perform engineering calculations to support design work where applicable.
- Create and review technical drawings and assemblies in CAD, with SolidWorks experience preferred.
- Create and maintain Bills of Materials for new and existing products.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, and work with vendors and contractors.
- Prepare detailed documentation to track project development and the design process.
- Ensure project timelines are met and projects stay within budget.
- Work with manufacturing personnel to troubleshoot and improve designs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology or in the automotive field
- 2–5 years of engineering experience
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and written instructions
- Strong understanding of engineering concepts and experience designing mechanical systems and products
- Experience with sheet metal part fabrication and weld terminology
- Experience using 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, CREO, Inventor, or similar, with SolidWorks preferred
- Excellent technical and problem‑solving skills and reasoning ability
- Clear and effective communication abilities
- Self‑motivated and capable of working independently
- Teamwork: demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, solve complex problems, and communicate clearly
- Physical requirement: ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work comfortably in confined spaces around vehicles
