Job Description

NextGen Armor offers a collaborative, growth‑focused environment in Butler, PA. This onsite Mechanical Engineer role supports the development of advanced vehicle systems, with a focus on planning, conceptualizing, designing, and troubleshooting. You will work with cross‑functional teams to meet quality and schedule targets while helping drive automotive technology forward. The position carries a salary of USD 70,000 to 90,000 per year and a comprehensive benefits package designed to support you and your family.

Responsibilities

  • Develop testing processes and perform testing and validation of new designs where applicable.
  • Perform engineering calculations to support design work where applicable.
  • Create and review technical drawings and assemblies in CAD, with SolidWorks experience preferred.
  • Create and maintain Bills of Materials for new and existing products.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, and work with vendors and contractors.
  • Prepare detailed documentation to track project development and the design process.
  • Ensure project timelines are met and projects stay within budget.
  • Work with manufacturing personnel to troubleshoot and improve designs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology or in the automotive field
  • 2–5 years of engineering experience
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and written instructions
  • Strong understanding of engineering concepts and experience designing mechanical systems and products
  • Experience with sheet metal part fabrication and weld terminology
  • Experience using 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, CREO, Inventor, or similar, with SolidWorks preferred
  • Excellent technical and problem‑solving skills and reasoning ability
  • Clear and effective communication abilities
  • Self‑motivated and capable of working independently
  • Teamwork: demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, solve complex problems, and communicate clearly
  • Physical requirement: ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work comfortably in confined spaces around vehicles
