Job Description

Senior Electrical Engineer position at CooperSurgical in Trumbull, CT (onsite).

Responsibilities

Lead cross-functional teams across operations, supply chain, regulatory and quality to ensure timely completion of change control initiatives.
Create and refine electrical systems and components for medical devices, producing schematics, wiring diagrams, and PCB layouts.
Plan, conduct, and report design verification tests.
Develop and maintain Design Control documents including design inputs, design outputs, and the traceability matrix.
Perform feasibility assessments and provide technical support for both new and existing products.
Carry out thorough root-cause analyses of complaints, nonconformances, and CAPAs for advanced electromechanical devices, with methodical documentation.
Lead product compliance efforts to IEC 60601 and nurture partnerships with UL as applicable.
Participate in design reviews and offer constructive feedback to improve designs.
Stay current with industry trends and advances in electrical design for medical devices.

Requirements

Solid foundation in electrical engineering principles, including analog and digital circuits, power electronics, and control systems.
Proficient with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and processor emulators/debuggers.
Experience with PCB design software and simulation tools like Altium Designer and MATLAB.
Experience with product development processes, including design controls, risk management, and design verification and validation.
Strong prioritization skills to manage multiple concurrent projects.
Familiarity with regulatory standards including IEC 60601, FDA 820.11, MDR, and ISO 13485.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including experience in writing test protocols and reports.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and meet deadlines.
At least 4 years of electrical design experience for medical devices.
Experience designing for EMC and electrical safety per IEC 60601-1-2 and IEC 60601-1.
Experience resolving issues in complex electromechanical devices and implementing design changes.

Location: Trumbull, CT (onsite)
Travel: May be required to travel up to 10% of time
Work Environment: On-site five days a week; prolonged computer work
