Join Tetra Tech’s Federal Fuels Program as a Senior Civil Engineer, contributing to the design and assessment of DoD fixed fueling infrastructure from a remote position based near Collinsville, Illinois. This senior role blends technical leadership, client interaction, and meticulous design work to advance critical fueling facilities across defense installations. A BSCE and an active Professional Engineer license with at least ten years of experience are required to excel in this position.
Responsibilities
- Serve in a key project personnel role with direct interaction to client stakeholders.
- Lead and support civil design for DoD fixed fueling infrastructure projects.
- Conduct field investigations, planning studies, and facility assessments to identify deficiencies and propose solutions.
- Perform conceptual and detailed design calculations and analyses.
- Prepare project-specific technical specifications in CSI MasterFormat using SpecsIntact.
- Develop labor and materials cost estimates for civil design and construction tasks across various development stages and proposal efforts.
- Manage assigned workload to meet project scope and schedules within the approved budget.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and coordinate effectively within project teams.
- Operate in alignment with internal procedures, regulations, and industry standards.
- Pursue ongoing professional development and maintain a high level of discipline and knowledge.
- Work safely and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
- Additional duties as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) from an ABET-accredited university.
- Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in one or more states.
- 10+ years of professional civil engineering experience, with 5+ years in civil, industrial, and infrastructure related to bulk fuel delivery and storage systems at DoD installations.
- Experience adapting DoD/Federal standard designs, UFC, and UFGS to AFCEC, NAVFAC, and USACE project-specific requirements in SpecsIntact.
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards including ACI, AISC, API, ASCE, AWWA, and IBC.
- Willingness to travel approximately 10-15% of the time.
- U.S. Citizenship required due to project work.
- Ability to obtain a DoD Common Access Card (CAC) within six months and pass a favorable background investigation.

- Fluent in English.

Other Skills
- Structural Engineering (SE) license or potential to obtain SE licensure is a plus.
- API individual certifications (eg, API 510, 570, 653) are advantageous.
- Drafting/design experience with AutoCAD or Revit is desirable; familiarity with RISA 3D or Civil 3D is a plus.
- Experience with non-building structures not intended for continuous human occupancy is preferred.
