Responsibilities
- Develop precision metal and ceramic components and assemblies that require tight tolerances and meticulous dimensional control.
- Maintain and consolidate engineering drawings, translating legacy models from Inventor and FreeCAD into the SolidWorks database for a centralized CAD library.
- Lead cross functional initiatives to define requirements with senior developers and drive projects from concept through successful completion.
- Fabricate laboratory test systems, proof of concept rigs, and specialized equipment used to manufacture X ray tubes.
- Produce and assemble low volume components and prototypes for R&D validation.
- Perform rigorous engineering analysis including tolerance stack ups, risk assessments, root cause investigations, and DFMEAs.
- Develop and formalize procedures to smoothly transition prototypes into scalable manufacturing processes.
Requirements
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering with 8+ years of proven experience designing and developing production level products.
- SolidWorks experience exceeding 2,000 hours, or an equivalent level of proficiency in a similar 3D CAD system.
- Strong knowledge and application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
- Solid foundation in engineering analysis, with emphasis on structural and thermal aspects.
- Hands on experience or strong familiarity with welding and brazing technologies.
- Ability to thrive in an early stage company environment with limited instruction, high ambiguity, and rapid timelines.
- Proven capability to evaluate third party suppliers and work collaboratively to resolve technical issues.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for cross functional teamwork.
