Job Description

Akina, Inc. seeks a Software Engineer for onsite work in Annapolis Junction, MD. The role involves building and improving complex software systems that may include processing-intensive analytics, real-time systems, and business management information systems, under a government-focused security clearance requirement.

Responsibilities

Develop, maintain, and enhance complex and diverse software systems using documented requirements.
Work independently or collaboratively as part of a team.
Review and test software components for alignment with design requirements, and document test outcomes.
Investigate and resolve software problem reports.
Apply software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment.
Provide input to software components of system design, including hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, and evaluation of using Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) or Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) solutions instead of new development.
Support requirements analysis and synthesis from system-level needs to individual software components.

Required Qualifications

Satellite protocol processing experience, with the ability for critical thinking.
Programming language experience, ideally in C++; Go, Rust, or Python are acceptable.
TS/SCI clearance with polygraph is required.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
Four (4) years of additional SWE experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.

Experience Levels

Software Engineer 1 (SWE-1) Qualifications: Seven (7) years of experience as a SWE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
Software Engineer 2 (SWE-2) Qualifications: Fourteen (14) years of experience as a SWE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.

Salary

USD 178,000 - 263,000 per year.

The range shown above is a likely salary range for this position. It is not a guarantee of compensation. Salary is set based on experience, geographic location, and possible contractual requirements, and could fall outside of this range.
