Software Engineer 1or2

Akina, Inc. seeks a Software Engineer for onsite work in Annapolis Junction, MD. The role involves building and improving complex software systems that may include processing-intensive analytics, real-time systems, and business management information systems, under a government-focused security clearance requirement.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance complex and diverse software systems using documented requirements.
• Work independently or collaboratively as part of a team.
• Review and test software components for alignment with design requirements, and document test outcomes.
• Investigate and resolve software problem reports.
• Apply software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment.
• Provide input to software components of system design, including hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, and evaluation of using Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) or Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) solutions instead of new development.
• Support requirements analysis and synthesis from system-level needs to individual software components.

Required Qualifications

• Satellite protocol processing experience, with the ability for critical thinking.
• Programming language experience, ideally in C++; Go, Rust, or Python are acceptable.
• TS/SCI clearance with polygraph is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
• Four (4) years of additional SWE experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.

Experience Levels

• Software Engineer 1 (SWE-1) Qualifications: Seven (7) years of experience as a SWE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• Software Engineer 2 (SWE-2) Qualifications: Fourteen (14) years of experience as a SWE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.

Salary

USD 178,000 - 263,000 per year.
