AI Engineer

GenNexus Tech Solutions LLP is hiring an AI Engineer to design, build, and deploy machine learning and AI-driven solutions in a regulated banking environment. This is a contract role with contract-to-hire preferred, and the client is open to direct full-time employment for the right fit.

The work is fully on-site, 5 days per week, with presence required across East Lansing, MI and Detroit, MI. The position focuses on delivering production-ready AI capabilities that align with banking standards for security, data privacy, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy AI/ML models and pipelines that support banking operations, including risk, fraud detection, underwriting, customer experience, or process automation
• Write clean, production-grade Python for data processing, model development, and integration with existing systems
• Collaborate with data engineering, IT, and business stakeholders to identify practical AI/ML opportunities within a regulated banking setting
• Build and maintain ETL/ELT data pipelines to enable model training and inference
• Evaluate, fine-tune, and deploy both traditional machine learning models and LLM/generative AI solutions where applicable
• Support compliance expectations by ensuring AI systems meet banking industry standards for security, data privacy, and regulatory compliance
• Document model methodology, performance, and monitoring processes for internal governance and audit purposes
• Partner with IT infrastructure teams to deploy, scale, and monitor AI solutions in production

Requirements

• Strong, demonstrable Python development skills, focused on production-level code rather than notebooks or scripts
• Prior experience working within a bank or financial services institution, including exposure to banking data, systems, and/or the regulatory environment
• Experience with core AI/ML libraries and frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn, Hugging Face, LangChain, or similar
• Solid understanding of data engineering fundamentals, including SQL, data pipelines, and cloud or on-prem data platforms
• Experience deploying models to production using MLOps practices, with APIs and containerization as a plus
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with technical and business teams
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

Job Logistics

• Location: East Lansing, MI and Detroit, MI (onsite). Candidate should be prepared to work from either and/or both locations as needed.
• Work arrangement: Fully on-site, 5 days per week (no remote/hybrid flexibility)
• Engagement: Contract-to-hire preferred; client open to direct FTE placement
• Pay: $75.00 - $80.00 per hour (USD)
