AI Engineer II

This role supports the end-to-end delivery of advanced artificial intelligence capabilities, from model design through production deployment and ongoing support, with a focus on manufacturing and business applications. The position is based on-site in Kansas City, Missouri and involves engineering practices that support scalable and reliable AI services.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop AI/ML models and algorithms using disciplined software-engineering methods, including version control, automated testing, and detailed documentation.
• Design, build, and maintain production-grade pipelines for model training, validation, deployment, and monitoring, applying CI/CD and modern orchestration and deployment practices.
• Optimize model performance for latency, throughput, and resource utilization to meet real-time manufacturing or business requirements.
• Work with multiple stakeholders to translate business needs into AI system specifications, define service-level objectives, and provide technical guidance to data science partners.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in computer science, data science, or related technical activities.
• Ability to travel as determined by business needs.
• Ability to work on-site as directed by management and as determined by business needs.
• Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of the job.
• United States Citizenship.
• Ability to obtain and maintain, if required, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations).

• Hands-on experience deploying AI applications on cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.
• Solid understanding of LLMs, NLP, and RAG.
