Analytics Engineer

Cenergy International is hiring a fixed-term Analytics Engineer for a remote role. This engagement focuses on getting reporting data back to reliable, up-to-date behavior by stabilizing and modernizing pipelines, alerting, and dashboard extracts. Compensation: USD 85 - 95 per hour. Experience level: 3+ years.

What you’ll work on

• Diagnose and repair a defined backlog of stalled or broken data pipelines feeding reporting dashboards, prioritized by the hiring manager.
• Replace a drop-and-recreate table build with an in-place write to preserve existing access permissions.
• Handle alerting migration by moving workflow alerting off a deprecated notification setting and routing alerts to a team distribution list.
• Inventory BI data sources (including Tableau published data sources and embedded SQL) to identify duplicated logic and verify downstream consumers before any changes.
• Retire unused workflows and tables using a staged approach: confirm no consumers, disable for one billing cycle, then remove.
• Build freshness and staleness checks for dashboard data extracts.
• Provide first-line triage for failures on in-scope workflows (up to about 4 hours/week, business hours only, with no on-call and no external communication).
• Support new product launches by confirming data flows into cost reporting and writing a short reconciliation for the first cycle’s volumes.
• Write a runbook for every workflow touched and deliver all documentation to the hiring manager by the end of the term.
• Meet weekly with the hiring manager to review progress.
• Ensure all code changes go through pull-request review before merge.

What you bring

• 3+ years in analytics or data engineering, including hands-on ownership of production pipelines.
• Strong SQL experience on a distributed query engine such as Trino/Presto (or similar).
• Proficiency with Python and pandas for data processing and validation.
• Experience building and maintaining scheduled workflows in an orchestration tool such as Airflow (or similar).
• Working knowledge of Tableau published data sources and Tableau extracts.
• Comfortable working with git and pull-request workflows.
• Ability to debug pipelines you did not build, even with incomplete documentation.
• Clear written documentation habits.

Preferred background

• Experience with billing, cost, or financial reporting data.
• Jupyter notebooks and parameterized notebook execution (for example, papermill).
• Airtable (read-only reporting).
• Familiarity with Iceberg or Hive table formats.
• Background in media, localization, or content supply chain data.
