The Senior Data Engineer, Analytics role is an individual contributor position dedicated to analytics engineering, guiding data platform initiatives, and enabling data-driven decision making across the business, with a remote work option.
Responsibilities
- Deliver Results at Scale: Produce high impact code to build pipelines, visualizations, dashboards, and solutions that accelerate development and empower confident, data-informed decisions. Leverage your DBT expertise to implement transformative changes to the data transformation layer with confidence.
- Lead with Expertise: Serve as a senior technical expert in data and analytics engineering, steering architecture discussions and implementing robust, scalable data models.
- Prioritize for Performance: Balance feature delivery with a simple, performant design, ensuring pipelines are cost effective and run at high performance.
- Build and Maintain Layered Data: Collaborate with other technical contributors to expand a modern data warehouse capable of unlocking insights through strategic architecture you help define.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product Managers, Engineers, and Business Stakeholders to capture requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Empower Business Users: Work with power users to enable data fluency and help teams build and explore reporting tools that unlock value.
- Champion AI & Automation: Promote AI-assisted coding, documentation, and data exploration techniques to streamline development and boost self-serve capabilities for business users.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience implementing and scaling DBT in a team setting and growth environment.
- 5+ years of production data modeling using key data warehousing techniques on cloud platforms such as Databricks Delta, Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery or similar. You design intuitive, business-friendly data models that support self-service exploration and operational reporting while adhering to conventional concepts.
- Very strong understanding of advanced SQL concepts, including performance implications.
- Familiarity with Spark or similar distributed data processing technologies.
- Proven track record building data pipelines with CI/CD (GitHub Actions or CircleCI) featuring well-tested pipelines, proactive alerting, and strong data quality standards.
- Familiarity with AI and automation tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Natural Language Query tools) to enable faster delivery of high-quality code.
- Skilled in data visualization platforms such as Looker, Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools, with a strong preference for Omni and experience in building dashboards and enabling self-service for users.
- Self-service capabilities in Git.
- Experience in Python is a bonus.
- Experience with DAG tools such as Prefect, Dagster, or Airflow is a bonus.
- Experience with subscriptions and/or ecommerce is a bonus.
