Application Engineer
Job Description
Bepex International LLC seeks an on-site Application Engineer in Minneapolis, MN to lead technical process activities for pilot tests and the design of custom capital process equipment and systems from sale through start-up.
Responsibilities
- Determine testing design settings by applying product quality requirements, process design criteria, and customer specifications.
- Serve as the technical lead for pilot test design, documentation, and execution to ensure quality outcomes.
- Coordinate shipping details for pilot test materials among the Process Development Center, logistics, and customers.
- Direct activities during testing to maintain schedule and quality standards.
- Prepare or review technical test reports and secure approvals as needed.
- Support domestic and international sales and marketing with strong customer service, clear communication, and technical information.
- Examine and interpret all technical and commercial documentation received at order entry.
- Participate in project kickoff meetings and contribute to design reviews.
- Collaborate with the Process Controls team to develop process flow diagrams, simplified piping and instrumentation diagrams, and process control narratives.
- Generate technical documentation for project management as required.
- Review equipment drawing packages and participate in factory acceptance tests.
- Lead quality startups of installed equipment and systems.
- Coordinate review of customer specifications with other departments and help determine project costs.
- Obtain and review all technical vendor specifications.
- Act as the technical contact to select, inspect, and accept auxiliary equipment.
- Provide customer process support for installed equipment during field service projects.
- Lead resolution of customer complaints and warranty issues related to process problems as the customer champion.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure successful project completion.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical or mechanical engineering.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Application Engineering or equivalent in custom capital process equipment and systems.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines and effectively prioritize work.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong written and verbal communication with internal and external customers, consultants, and suppliers.
- 3+ years of demonstrated problem solving experience.
- Two years of general computer skills.

Physical Requirements
- Work in both office environments and industrial process areas.
- Work at indoor and outdoor customer locations as needed.
- Capable of lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs in the pilot plant area.
- Work in classified hazardous areas with required protective equipment.
- Travel up to 40% domestically and internationally.
Compensation
- USD 70,000 - 90,000 per year
