Job Description

Dataforth is seeking a Production Test & Support Electrical Engineer to design, develop, and maintain production test hardware and software for its Tucson, AZ operations.

Responsibilities

Design and assemble robust production test hardware, including interface circuitry, test head enclosures, wiring harnesses, and integrated safety features.
Develop and maintain test software and programs for device communication over digital interfaces, instrument control, test sequencing, database integration, and comprehensive data logging.
Lead the design of innovative test solutions for Dataforth's next generation product lines.
Maintain and enhance existing test hardware and software used across all production lines to ensure uptime and measurement accuracy.
Own technical execution, scheduling, and cost considerations for assigned test development projects with autonomy guided by defined requirements.
Collaborate closely with design engineers and manufacturing personnel to ensure seamless test integration and alignment with product requirements.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or closely related field.
Minimum 4 years of direct experience designing, developing, and implementing product test solutions spanning hardware and software.
Strong foundation in analog and digital circuit design relevant to test fixtures and interfaces.
Proficiency in a test automation or instrument control language such as LabVIEW, Python, C#, or C++.
Hands-on experience with standard and high-performance test equipment (DMMs, oscilloscopes, power supplies, function generators, etc.).
Excellent problem-solving abilities, analytical mindset, and strong documentation skills.
Effective communication skills and ability to document processes clearly.
Experience interfacing with databases for test data storage and retrieval.
Mechanical design aptitude or CAD experience for enclosures and fixtures is a plus.
Familiarity with SPI, I2C, UART, USB, and Ethernet communication protocols.

Responsibilities

Quality support and continuous improvement activities across injection molded products and processes
Assist in developing and executing quality improvement projects for molded parts and processes
Perform capability studies (Cp/Cpk), MSA, SPC charting, and other statistical analyses to monitor and elevate process performance
Support creation and revision of PFMEAs, Control Plans, and other quality documentation
Inspection and data analysis: conduct dimensional inspection using calipers, micrometers, optical measurement systems, and CMMs (as trained)
Analyze quality data to identify trends, anomalies, or opportunities for improvement
Support incoming, in‑process, and final inspection activities, including measurement method validation
Participate in root cause investigations for nonconforming material and customer complaints
Support corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and document findings using structured problem‑solving methodologies (8D, 5‑Why, Fishbone, etc.)
Assist with process validation activities (IQ/OQ/PQ) for new molds, tooling changes, or process updates
Maintain accurate documentation per ISO 9001 and Entegris Quality Management System requirements
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure quality requirements are understood and met on the production floor
