Associate Substation Project Engineer

PG&E Corporation is hiring an entry-level Associate Substation Project Engineer within the Energy Delivery business unit. This ESC-represented individual contributor role provides technical engineering support for routine electrical engineering and substation-related projects under general technical direction from more experienced engineers. The position is hybrid, with work performed from a remote office and an assigned location within the PG&E Service Territory, based on business need.

In this role based in West Sacramento, CA, you will help move routine projects forward by supporting scope, scheduling, estimating, design review coordination, and field-facing engineering support as directed. The responsibility level increases with experience, and the annual salary range is USD 99,936 - 150,108.

Responsibilities

• Assist with or conduct project walkdowns and coordinate with the project team, including internal and external clients, to establish scope of work, schedule, and cost commitments.
• Gather technical information from field data and from the project team.
• Prepare cost estimates and investigate resources needed to complete engineering and project-related tasks.
• Establish an engineering schedule and maintain project forecasting for engineering work.
• Track project progress, update forecasts as needed, and provide periodic updates.
• Provide guidance to design and contractor team members, and review design and technical documents.
• Coordinate with other lines of business to ensure designs and technical documents meet appropriate criteria, quality, and job scope.
• Approve revisions to existing drawings for routine projects.
• Procure long-lead-time materials for assigned projects.
• Under direction, review and approve project material procurement lists, vendor drawings, equipment specification updates, and engineering material requests.
• Participate in periodic design review meetings.
• Coordinate project activities with other disciplines for routine projects.
• Under direction, provide construction support and evaluate field construction problems, making recommendations to resolve them.

Requirements

• Education: BS degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited curriculum in the US, or the equivalent from outside the US.
• Experience: 1 year of experience in electrical engineering and design.
