Electric Power Systems Inc is seeking a Senior Substation Engineer to lead the design, analysis, and field support of substation projects across North American sites. This on-site role emphasizes delivering comprehensive design packages, conducting engineering studies, preparing specifications, and coordinating with clients and internal teams, with work locations in Olympia, WA, and project opportunities in Palmer or Juneau, Alaska. The position offers a salary range of USD 95,000 to 155,000 per year and requires a BSEE (ABET-accredited) with at least seven years of substation design experience.
Responsibilities
- Designing and reviewing substation layouts, plan and profiles, one-lines, three-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, grounding layouts, and protective device drawings
- Performing engineering studies: short-circuit, grounding, voltage drop, and equipment rating
- Developing technical specifications for procurement and construction
- Coordinating with clients, vendors, and internal teams to manage design deliverables
- Conducting field inspections and supporting troubleshooting efforts
- Tracking project status, responding to client feedback, and ensuring design accuracy
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), ABET Accredited
- 7+ years of experience in substation design or related electrical engineering
- Familiarity with applicable codes (e.g., IEEE, NESC, NEC)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- PE license is a plus (or willingness to obtain)
