Civil Engineer (site and utility design)(site inspections)

Position overview

Mathers Engineering Corporation, based in Stuart, Florida 34996, is seeking a Civil Engineer to contribute to a range of civil and site land development projects within a multi-disciplinary team. The role involves evaluating development feasibility and assessing sites to ensure planned development can be supported through design and permit requirements of local and state agencies. The engineer will prepare design plans, supporting calculations, and reports for assigned projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform all calculations necessary for grading and drainage, stormwater control facilities, water quality, domestic water distribution, and other underground utilities.
• Develop and issue drawings, design documentation, and reports for residential and commercial land development projects.
• Coordinate activities with other consultants and contractors.
• Interact with contractors, fabricators, owners, and internal clients to develop project requirements, schedules, and cost estimates prior to project implementation.
• Drive coordination and design necessary to obtain local, state, and federal permits as it relates to land development and utility construction projects.
• Ensure plans meet zoning requirements and do not conflict with other municipal regulations.
• Resolve design and construction conflicts in the field in real time and perform onsite inspections as required by agencies.

Ideal candidate

• B.S. or Masters in Civil Engineering with at least 2 to 5 years of office experience.
• Licensed EIT or PE in Florida (optional).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Detail-oriented and able to work in a supportive environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work with clients and staff.

Education and licensing

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required; a Master's degree is acceptable.
• Licensed EIT or PE in Florida is optional.
