Overview

Kapur is seeking a dedicated and skilled Staff Engineer to join the Site Design team in our Downtown Milwaukee, WI office. The successful candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and will be responsible for grading and utility design using Civil 3D, working under a Professional Engineer to deliver high quality engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

Assist in the preparation and design of civil engineering projects.
Perform grading and utility design using Civil 3D software.
Collaborate with the Site Design team to develop project plans, specifications, and estimates.
Conduct site visits and field inspections to gather data and assess project requirements.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Support the PE in various engineering tasks and project management activities.
Communicate effectively with team members, clients, and other stakeholders.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
Proficiency in Civil 3D software is desired.
Strong understanding of grading and utility design principles.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Eagerness to learn and grow in a professional engineering setting.

Preferred Skills

1-4 years of experience with site design and land development projects.
Familiarity with local, state, and federal engineering standards and regulations.
Previous internship or work experience in a civil engineering role.

Position overview

Mathers Engineering Corporation, based in Stuart, Florida 34996, is seeking a Civil Engineer to contribute to a range of civil and site land development projects within a multi-disciplinary team. The role involves evaluating development feasibility and assessing sites to ensure planned development can be supported through design and permit requirements of local and state agencies. The engineer will prepare design plans, supporting calculations, and reports for assigned projects.

Responsibilities

Perform all calculations necessary for grading and drainage, stormwater control facilities, water quality, domestic water distribution, and other underground utilities.
Develop and issue drawings, design documentation, and reports for residential and commercial land development projects.
Coordinate activities with other consultants and contractors.
Interact with contractors, fabricators, owners, and internal clients to develop project requirements, schedules, and cost estimates prior to project implementation.
Drive coordination and design necessary to obtain local, state, and federal permits as it relates to land development and utility construction projects.
Ensure plans meet zoning requirements and do not conflict with other municipal regulations.
Resolve design and construction conflicts in the field in real time and perform onsite inspections as required by agencies.

Ideal candidate

B.S. or Masters in Civil Engineering with at least 2 to 5 years of office experience.
Licensed EIT or PE in Florida (optional).
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Detail-oriented and able to work in a supportive environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work with clients and staff.

Education and licensing

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required; a Master's degree is acceptable.
Licensed EIT or PE in Florida is optional.

Responsibilities

Plan, design, and oversee a variety of civil engineering projects from concept through completion.
Organize and execute projects from inception to finish, ensuring delivery of quality results.
Prepare plans using Civil 3D software, covering streets, sewers, and utilities.
Develop details, specifications, and bidding documents.
Prepare regulatory permits for projects as needed.
Administer municipal projects, including attending client meetings.
Attend council and board meetings as required.
Demonstrate strong communication skills when coordinating with clients on current and future projects.

Qualifications

Illinois Professional Engineer license.
Minimum of 5 years of Civil Engineering experience, including permitting, design, and construction of land development projects.
Working knowledge of Civil 3D and AutoCAD software.
Knowledge of Illinois Department of Transportation specifications, policies, and procedures.
Ability to effectively manage client relationships.
