Component Engineer Support Specialist

Component Engineer Support Specialist role in Scottsdale, AZ (onsite) supporting mission-critical component engineering through ePDM-based configuration management and part compliance analysis.

Responsibilities

• Process New Part Requests (NPRs) in the GDMS ePDM configuration management database.
• Apply knowledge of electrical and electronic parts, mechanical hardware, and chemical-based materials (paints, solvents, adhesives, thermal filling agents) including function and manufacturing base.
• Differentiate basic model numbers vs. orderable part numbers, including how manufacturer configuration control defines full configuration.
• Interpret how manufacturers define packaging (tube, tray, reel) and how packaging is reflected in part number usage.
• Extract key parameters from datasheets, manufacturer websites, and military/industry specifications to write accurate part descriptions aligned with Appendix A of the Component Engineering guidelines.
• Determine whether a part number is controlled by Military, National Aerospace, NEMA, or other government/industry specifications versus a manufacturer’s commercial part number.
• Use Silicon Expert, IHS Haystack, or similar tools to perform lifecycle and availability analysis.
• Process and interpret GIDEPs to evaluate whether electronic parts and mechanical hardware are impacted.
• Coordinate and execute many concurrent small and large tasks with strong organization, people skills, and task management.
• Apply processes and principles from Component Engineering documents within the Common Process Framework.

Requirements

• Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related STEM field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
• 2+ years of experience in Component Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Electronic Parts Management, or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated knowledge of electrical and mechanical hardware as well as chemical products.
• Experience reading and interpreting manufacturer datasheets and other technical documentation.
• Experience working with supply chain and manufacturers on End-of-Life (EOL) and obsolescence management.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite (especially Microsoft Excel) and Product Data Management (PDM) tools such as GDMS ePDM-Windchill, CIMA, or similar systems.
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Independent, self-starter work ethic with strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for cross-disciplinary engineering team interaction.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related Science, Engineering, or Mathematics field) plus at least 2 years relevant experience; or a Master’s degree plus 6 months relevant experience.
• Due to the nature of work within facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Salary (estimate): USD 100,219 - 111,180 per year. Actual pay may vary based on experience and other factors (including geographic location).
