Job Description

The Container Security Engineer role at Deloitte supports the Cloud Security Engineering Pod to deliver secure container platform capabilities and guide architecture, design, and operations for OpenShift and Kubernetes environments in a hybrid Dallas setting.

Salary

USD 102,700 to 159,300 per year

Education

Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related IT discipline; or equivalent experience.

Minimum Experience

Six or more years of relevant industry experience in security engineering, platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, or related technical discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and refine an Unauthorized Lateral Movement defense for a large OpenShift deployment.
  • Own enterprise-scale security solutions delivered through automation and seamless operation.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and cross-functional teams to roll out secure container platform capabilities organization-wide.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders and partner teams across different time zones to support design decisions, implementation planning, and issue resolution.
  • Contribute to the architecture, design, reliability, and scalability of container security systems, both new and existing.
  • Support the full lifecycle of enterprise security solutions from design through deployment and ongoing operations.
  • Enhance secure platform engineering practices across Kubernetes and container environments through automation and disciplined operational rigor.
  • Work closely with technical teams to ensure solutions are resilient, maintainable, and aligned with platform security objectives.
  • Maintain regular communication with Engagement Managers, project team members, and cross-functional or technical stakeholders, escalating issues requiring escalation from engagement management.
  • Lead client engagement workstreams, independently and collaboratively, focusing on process improvement, optimization, and transformation, including implementing best-practice workflows, addressing quality gaps, and driving operational outcomes.

Requirements

  • Six-plus years of relevant experience in security engineering, platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, or related technical disciplines.
  • Hands-on experience spanning at least six years with large-scale OpenShift or comparable Kubernetes platforms.
  • Six-plus years delivering end-to-end enterprise software solutions, covering design, implementation, and ongoing operations within cross-functional settings.
  • Six-plus years contributing to architecture and design decisions, including patterns, reliability, and scalability considerations.
  • Six-plus years working with Kubernetes and container technologies including Docker, Podman, and OpenShift.
  • Six-plus years of security fundamentals relevant to Kubernetes and containerized platforms.
  • Six-plus years of programming expertise in Python or Java, plus tooling such as Git, Maven, IDEs, Jenkins, or Bitbucket.
  • Six-plus years working with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile methodologies in enterprise environments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related IT discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available.
  • Travel approximately 10 percent on average depending on client needs.
  • Eligible to start by August 17, 2026.
  • Hybrid work model requires a minimum of three days onsite at the client location in Dallas, TX.
