Software Engineer III on Google's Looker Developer Infrastructure and Tooling team, onsite in Cambridge, MA. The role focuses on building and maintaining core infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and tooling to support the Looker software development lifecycle, including AI powered agent capabilities.
Overview
The Looker DevInfra and Tooling group is dedicated to maximizing the efficiency, quality, and velocity of Looker engineering. The team builds and sustains the core infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and advanced tooling that power the entire SDLC for Looker, while advancing toward Agentic Development where AI powered agents handle mechanical tasks for developers. Google Cloud accelerates digital transformation with enterprise grade solutions and developer tools designed to scale with customer needs.
Responsibilities
- Write product or system development code.
- Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
- Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
- Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
- Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.
- Experience with CI/CD and build systems.
- Experience with Google Cloud, Kubernetes, Docker.

- Salary: USD 147,000 – 211,000 per year

Individual compensation is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. In the US, the compensation range is USD 147,000 to 211,000, with a 15% bonus target, plus equity and full benefits.
