Job Description

Paragon Cyber Solutions is seeking a Cyber Security Engineer (II) to support a critical defense program by implementing, monitoring, and improving enterprise cybersecurity controls. This onsite role in Crane, IN focuses on strengthening security operations, improving threat detection, supporting vulnerability management, and assisting with compliance initiatives.

What you’ll do

  • Implement and maintain cybersecurity controls across enterprise environments.
  • Support security operations tools including SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS, and firewall technologies.
  • Participate in vulnerability management and remediation initiatives.
  • Perform security monitoring, analysis, and provide incident response support.
  • Assist with threat modeling and risk assessments.
  • Maintain secure system configurations and security baselines.
  • Support compliance activities aligned with NIST, CIS, and organizational policies.
  • Investigate security alerts and support threat hunting activities.
  • Participate in security tool deployment and optimization projects.
  • Create technical documentation and operational procedures.

What you’ll need

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2 to 4 years of cybersecurity engineering experience.
  • Experience supporting security operations and implementing security controls.
  • Experience supporting the Risk Management Framework (RMF) for DoD information systems.
  • Experience developing or updating RMF and security authorization documentation including SSP, RAR, SAP, SAR, POA&M, IRP, CP, SOPs, and CMPs.
  • Working knowledge of FISMA, FIPS, NIST, DoDI 8510.01, DoDI 8500.01, and related cybersecurity guidance.
  • Familiarity with SIEM platforms, IDS/IPS, EDR, and firewall technologies.
  • Understanding of threat modeling, vulnerability management, and secure configuration baselines.
  • Knowledge of NIST Cybersecurity Framework and CIS Controls.
  • Knowledge of security compliance frameworks.
  • Security certifications such as Security+, CISSP, or similar industry-recognized certifications.
