Job Description

A senior engineer focused on energy storage, supporting the United States Navy in Crane, Indiana with design, development, and integration of shipboard power and energy storage systems.

Responsibilities

Characterize large-scale Li-ion battery performance criteria, develop failure modes, plan tests, create fire mitigation and suppression concepts, prototype battery-agnostic containment solutions, and evaluate the viability of other energy storage technologies.
Provide engineering support and requirements development for electrical, mechanical, and system controls, including mitigation options for the system and its interfaces within the integrated shipboard environment.
Assist with engineering investigations of power and energy systems, energy storage enclosures and related processes, applying failure and materials analysis methods, including non-destructive and destructive analysis for lithium-ion and silver-zinc energy storage systems and their enclosures and mitigation systems.
Review commercially developed studies, analyses, evaluations, and assessments provided to the Government.
Support DoW acquisition and acquisition management elements.

Job Description

Lead Digital Engineering transformation for naval programs by establishing Windchill as the authoritative source of truth and building a Digital Thread and Digital Twin, with an in-person role at NWS Crane, IN.

Responsibilities

Work in a team to accomplish enterprise-level Digital Engineering Transformation initiatives, shifting from 2D drawing-centric processes to a 3D model-centric, Windchill-managed Authoritative Source of Truth.
Help to architect, and then work in a collaborative team to implement integrated MCAD/PLM solutions using PTC Creo Parametric as the core tool, with interoperability across multiple CAD platforms and full integration of MCAD, ECAD, and Windchill PLM (including cable/harness design, top-down design, interference checking, and configure-to-order processes).
Establish and maintain Windchill PLM as the single Authoritative Source of Truth for all engineering artifacts, including 3D models, BOMs, technical data packages, and product structures. Drive BOM transformation (E-BOM → M-BOM, S-BOM, etc.) with full traceability.
Design and execute robust configuration and change management workflows in Windchill (ECPs, ECNs, Initial Release, Document Release, Deviations) with real-time traceability and impact analysis.
Leverage the digital engineering product definition to optimize downstream processes and synchronize with ERP, MES, EAM, and IIoT systems. Support production of Technical Data Packages (TDPs) per MIL-DTL-31000.
Lead pilot projects and advanced capabilities, including Augmented Reality (AR/Vuforia) work instructions, Creo View deployment, Windchill modules (PDMLink, MPMLink, Arbortext), and Modeling & Simulation (M&S) integration.
Develop libraries, templates, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and training programs for government and contractor personnel on Windchill, Creo, and digital engineering best practices.
Participate in senior stakeholder briefs (PEO IWS, Maritime Industrial Base, PEO MLB) on Digital Twin and Digital Thread concepts and drive continuous improvement of the digital engineering ecosystem.
Ensure compliance with DoD Instructions and standards including Digital Engineering, ASME/ANSI, GD&T, and DoD/DoN digital engineering strategies.

Requirements
